This page tells you a little bit about Ian Whitehouse in his own words; plus a few words about Saddlers Training and
Dynamic ADI Driving Instructor Training.
We hope you like it.
So a little bit about me, I am Ian Whitehouse (the one on the left), I jointly own Saddlers Driver Training (Inverness) and Dynamic ADI Driving Instructor Training Services, together with Mairi Newberry a Driving Instructor Trainer from Aberdeen.
I first qualified as a Driving Instructor in 1982.
The lady on the right is my daughter Caroline, I also have a son Andrew.
I ran my own driving school for six years before joining the (then) Department of Transport as a Driving Examiner in 1988.
The company's first car was a new Vauxhall Nova which I only had for 4 months because it just kept breaking down. We then ran two Nissan Micra's which were boring but very reliable.
I also formed Shire Oak Motorcycle Training, which is still operating today under different ownership. In those days everyone had to learn to ride on 125's, so we had a fleet of Honda's,
although I followed the trainees on a Honda 600.
I worked as a Driving Examiner for 22 years, firstly for the Department of Transport, which then changed to the Driving Standards Agency.
I was based initially at Kingstanding Test Centre, then Swynnerton LGV, Sutton Coldfield, Dundee and finally Inverness.
I was one of only a handful of DSA Examiners qualified to conduct Car, Motorcycle parts 1+2 LGV/PCV (lorry + buses) and ADI (Driving Instructor) Part 2 + 3 tests.
I also travelled around the north of Scotland conducting the DSA's 'Arrive Alive' road safety presentations, mainly in schools from Barra to Aberdeen and most in between, although I also did presentations at Inverness Prison. I was also involved in the 'Driving Ambition' program organised by the Police, Fire Service and Highland council.
So now I have left DSA and I jointly own Saddlers Driver Training (Inverness) and Dynamic ADI Driving Instructor Training Services, with a wonderful lady called
Mairi Newberry from sunny Aberdeen. Mairi is a legend in the Driving Instructor Training industry, she is known (and sometimes feared) by most driving instructors throughout Scotland. Mairi also ownes the Dynamic Motoring Group based in Aberdeen, she is also a professional drummer with the well known Aberdeen based Graham Geddes band. www.grahamg.com We specialise in training driving instructors, but we also teach learner drivers.
We also operate this unique website for the benefit of all learner and newly qualified drivers throughout Britain.
